The world’s first floating city is set to exist in the year 2020 in the Pacific Ocean, and the photos of it are insane!
I know it sounds pretty crazy, but there are plans to create the world’s first floating city and the pictures of it look awesome! Since 2008, the Seasteading Institute, a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco, has been planning this idea and they have just reached an agreement with the French Polynesia government to start testing it out.
The president of the Seasteading Institute, Joe Quirk stated:
“If you could have a floating city, it would essentially be a start-up country. We can create a huge diversity of governments for a huge diversity of people.”
The cost of creating and developing this floating city is about $167 million, but since they have seed funding from PayPal founder Peter Thiel, they are ready to get this project started.
